Fabius, NY – Want to Kill Winter Boredom?
Take advantage of the snow, one of Upstate New York’s most abundant natural resources, and take a sleigh ride through a winter wonderland.
From the Adirondacks to central New York, here are four amazing places across the Upstate to climb up a horse-drawn sleigh and glide through the snow.
Fabius, central New York
Enjoy a 20-minute sleigh ride or walk through the picturesque, snow-covered Highland Forest Park in Onondaga County. After a horse-drawn ride, you can snowshoe or cross-country ski on the park’s 20 miles of trails and refuel with a meal at Skyline Lodge Cafe.

Greenfield Center, Capital Region
Loon Meadow Farm offers private 40-minute sleigh rides for couples or small groups on Greenfield Center’s 153-acre farm. Just minutes from Saratoga Springs, the farm offers rides in antique sledges and carriages.
Hope you can come up with a unique suggestion? Loon Meadow has a “romance and roses” package – consisting of a bouquet of flowers and a sparkling drink – for partners who plan to ask the big question during the sleigh ride, according to the farm’s website.

Circle B Ranch offers group and private sleigh rides through fields and woods near its Adirondack Stables. Belgian draft horses Jack and Daniels pull groups of 12 through the snow, according to the ranch, while private groups of up to eight can ride in a custom red sleigh pulled by Percheron draft horses Jake and Charlie. And couples looking for a romantic adventure can indulge in a vintage cutter sleigh pulled by either Bud or Riley, draft horses.
After the sleigh ride is over, Circle B riders offer s’mores, drinks and a place to warm up inside the ranch barn, the ranch said.

Lake Placid, Adirondacks
Country Dream Farms heads north in the winter to the John Brown Farm State Historic Site in Lake Placid to offer horse-drawn sleigh rides. Riders can enjoy views of the Adirondack Mountains, the Olympic Ski Jump, Whiteface Mountain and more, according to Discover Upstate New York.
