Christmas Day is fast approaching, and unlike last year, quite a few Detroit restaurants will be open and serve holiday meals. Many want prix fixe meals or holiday deals.
If you are not comfortable eating in restaurants but still want to leave the cooking to someone else, some establishments offer options to take with you.

Here is a selection of what is available. Pre-booking is a must for places that offer to-go options, and most have deadlines for booking.
Apparatus room at Foundation Hotel
A prix fixe dinner is available for $ 85 and is served in family style from noon. 16-20: 30. It includes Parker House rolls, pickled vegetables and sweet little oysters for the table. Salad choices are shaved Brussels sprouts or kale and arugula salad. Extras at an additional cost include beef tartare, fresh truffles or chestnut and squash risotto. The main courses are fried chicken served with french fries, truffle chicken juice and braised leeks; salmon with root vegetable puree, broccoli and saba; or slowly cooked short rib, polenta, lardons and pickled pearl onions.

Serves its dinner menu all day. It includes characteristic cuts of roasted meat served at the table as well as the market table and the feijoada bar with seasonal salads, vegetables, imported cheese and more.

D. Prime: Open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with fixed menus and offers on New Year’s Eve. Specials include king crab and lobster roll ($ 32), Korean wagyu steak tartar ($ 35), an 18 ounce prime Kansas City strip steak ($ 90) and a Miyazaki Prefecture 8 ounce A5 grade Kobe Strip ($ 150).
TAP: Open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with regular menus and a New Year’s surf and turf special with a 6-ounce fillet and 5-ounce lobster tail served with grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes) for $ 85.

Special menu for Christmas Day is $ 179 for two and includes a winter salad of mixed field greens, spicy walnuts, blue cheese and creamy balsamic vinaigrette. Entree is chateaubriand for two with roasted pearl onions. Sides are baked corn souffle, sour cream mashed potatoes and creamy spinach. Choice of dessert.
The Townsend Hotel’s restaurant offers an affordable menu. There is a choice of starters, salad or soup and main courses of duck breast, sliced tenderloin or eggplant steak. Dessert is included. It’s $ 125 per person. person plus tax and gratuity.

San Morello on the ground floor of the Shinola Hotel will offer brunch (10:00 to 15:00) and dinner (17:00 to 22:00). The à la carte menu includes Carmellini’s Lamb Meatballs and wood-fired pizzas along with holiday specials. Seating will be available in the dining room and in San Morello’s heated seasonal pop-up cabins. You can also order a Christmas party to go.
