It’s Christmas week and County Liners is preparing for family dinners and gatherings. Winter solstice was Tuesday; many of us are happy to see the days get longer now. We wish everyone a special Christmas filled with peace, joy and good will at the birth of Jesus Christ.
Clarksbury United Methodist Church invites everyone to the “Children’s Christmas Program” at 18.30 today (Thursday) followed by refreshments and a visit with Santa Claus.
People enjoyed the “Journey to Bethlehem,” which hosted the Society Baptist Church Saturday night. Church members appreciate everyone’s support when the rain stopped that afternoon and the ride went as planned.
Society Baptist will have morning service at. 10 Sunday, December 26th. No other services will be held that day to give families more time together.
Our community extends its deepest sympathy to the family of Joann Williams, who died Wednesday last week at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after a brief stint. She had had failing health for several years and had been a resident of local nursing homes and care centers.
The third of four children, she was born in 1940 in Davie County to the late Marvin and Anna Seamon Williams of Ridge Road. She attended Society Baptist Church with her family and faithfully attended as long as her health allowed. In 1959, she graduated from Cool Spring High School; where she was voted “quietest” by her classmates, was a member of the Future Homemakers of America and Glee clubs and enjoyed collecting stones. As a retired textile seamstress, she liked to sew and was a caregiver for her parents when needed. A tomb service celebrating her life was held last Friday morning at Society Baptist Church Cemetery; she was laid to rest in the cemetery near other family members who had walked in front of her in death.
We send wellness wishes to Bessie Tomlin Josey, who has an infection at Davis Regional Medical Center. Betty G. Richardson has improved and is recovering at home. Alice C. Waugh remains in rehab at Davie Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mocksville. Join us in prayer for the Lord’s divine healing over Bessie, Betty, Alice, and other residents who have health problems.
Pray for the Lord’s support and blessings upon Joanne’s family when they miss her presence deeply. Remember in prayer Denny and Frances Benge Cartner; her brother “Cooter” Benge died Sunday, December 12th. Keep praying for the many families affected by the recent deadly tornadoes. Remember in prayer the many families in our area affected by the pandemic. Let us exercise caution when gathering for Christmas celebrations.
