Hot chocolate is cozy in itself, but there are ways to make it even “cozier”. For example, have you ever considered adding a splash of alcohol to this hot beverage? Yes, there is such a thing as hot chocolate – and it warms many stomachs this holiday season!

To make this comforting drink even more enjoyable, we have added a dropful of our high quality Tribe CBD oil. Just a dab of CBD oil is enough to make even the greenest Grinch giggle.

CBD Spiked Hot Chocolate Recipe

Today, we are more likely to think of hot chocolate as an offshoot of chocolate bars. But had it not been for hot chocolate, there would be no such thing as chocolate candies.

If you want to become technical, “cold chocolate” was the forerunner of the modern chocolate industry. According to the oldest reports from the ancient Mayans, nobles would mix cocoa beans with ingredients such as hot chili peppers and cornmeal to produce a thick and cold “chocolate drink.”

After the Spaniards brought cocoa back to Europe, the chocolate finally began to “warm up”. In addition to changing the temperature of their chocolate drinks, the Spaniards added sweeteners such as sugar rather than spicy ingredients.

Interestingly, it was not until the mid-19th century that chocolate bars, as we know them, first appeared in Britain. While chocolate sweets are far more prevalent than hot chocolate, it is worth remembering that chocolate drinks are the “authentic” way to enjoy this bean.


  • ~ 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon cane sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ oz your favorite spirit (e.g. peppermint schnapps, vodka or Kahlúa)
  • 1 drop of Tribe CBD oil
  • Candy can or cinnamon stick, optional


  • Pour cocoa powder and cane sugar into a serving mug.
  • Heat the milk until it just simmers on the stove or in the microwave.
  • Gently stir warm milk into the cocoa powder.
  • Add vanilla extract, Tribe CBD oil and alcohol.
  • Garnish with a cinnamon stick or something, if desired.

As you will notice, we have not specified which spirits to add to this hot chocolate. There are just too many options you can choose that would make this drink taste spectacular!

For example, if you’m a fan of creamy drinks, you’ll probably do better with liqueurs like Bailey’s Irish cream. People who want their drink to be extra festive may want to experiment with mint-flavored liqueurs like peppermint schnapps.
