SLED IN THE CITY ON A SUNDAY

Who wants to stay indoors all day on a snowy day? Technology makes this a little more of a rebuttal. However, the house will feel extra cozy after a laugh-out-loud on a tolerable winter day in Detroit. Grab a sled and speed up to the places you know best. You do not even have to venture far from downtown Detroit. Get together and go to Balduck Park or the Detroit Riverfront for prime sled trays. Balduck Park is an ideal place for exciting rides because it is well forested so you will not be distracted by a lot of car noise. The Detroit Riverfront is popular year-round, but it creates a special wonderland atmosphere in the winter.

DARE OUT TO VALADE PARK

Valade Park is the perfect place to enjoy the riverbank this winter. Every weekend since December has been filled with oversized outdoor bonfires, hot seasonal alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Make s’mores on their custom marshmallow roasters, grab a sled from Sled Shed (with free sleds when it snows), and play synthetic iscurling. Stay warm January 14- January 16 for Fire and ice, an ice carving competition, an istrone, techno dance party and renaissance fair demos. Weekly activities should give you enough reason to check out their cool agenda.

VALADE PARKS “WINTER AROUND THE WORLD”

Had an explosion led back to the past at the Fire and Ice specialty? Go back for more excitement in the winter in Valade Park. Thanks to the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy and its commitment to helping visitors embrace winter. Their fun programming by the river runs all year round. From Jan. 28 – 30 Jan., they will deliver international food trucks, curling demos and a children’s parade of nations. Detroit winter activities are, to say the least, different. Their holiday hours run every Friday 16-21.00, Saturday 12.00-21.00, Sunday 12.00-19.00 10 December – 27 February. Click HERE for more information on this lively event suitable for all ages.
